Nostalgic Summer Flavors Hit the Market

Remember spending long summer days at the park as a kid? Sweat was dripping down your face, and the playground bars scorched your hands, but nothing could stop you from playing. Nothing — that is, until you heard the familiar chiming tones of the ice cream truck rounding the corner. Like dogs hearing the dinner bell, you and all your fellow playground devotees launched off the playground, running to see who could be the front of the line while fishing a few sweaty dollars from your jeans pocket. Nothing was better than those dripping popsicles on a hot summer day. It was pure bliss. Well, childhood is only a faint memory now, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t enjoy the sweet flavors of summer. Now, however, the siren call of the ice cream truck comes instead in the form of the popping sound when you crack open a cold, refreshing popsicle-inspired alcoholic beverage. You heard that right – you can now enjoy the flavors of your most nostalgic childhood popsicles with the addition of alcohol.

This summer holds something special for adults who long to recapture the flavors of their youth. Top-selling brands Vizzy and Twisted Tea both released popsicle-inspired flavors. We here at Seltzer Nation usually reserve our Seltzer News articles for featuring new flavor lines or multi-flavor packs. However, every so often, our favorite brands release new single flavors that deserve their own share of attention. Without further ado, we present two of the most exciting beverage releases of the summer of 2023.

Vizzy Orange Cream Pop Hard Seltzer

Vizzy Hard Seltzer is diving head-first into summer with its limited-edition flavor, Orange Cream Pop.

“We know there’s a real affinity among consumers for nostalgic flavors, and nothing says a taste of summer more than orange cream pop,” says Liz Cramton, Molson Coors Beverage Company’s director of marketing for hard seltzers. “Vizzy Orange Cream Pop is a throwback that delivers that distinct flavor we all remember.”

In an April 27, 2023, press release, the brand compares the flavor to orange cream soda. However, the orange and white popsicle on the can clearly brings Creamsicles to mind. These hard seltzers are set to hit the market in mid-May. Vizzy Hard Seltzer Orange Cream Pop contains 90 calories and only 1 gram of carbs and sugars. These hard seltzers have an alcohol content of 4.5% ABV. Vizzy Orange Cream Pop Hard Seltzer will be available in single-flavor 12-packs for a limited time. How long will the flavor be available? The brand doesn’t say. If you don’t want to miss this flavor drop, we suggest you pick up a pack as soon as it hits shelves.

Twisted Tea Rocket Pop Hard Tea

Just in time for summer parties and beach cookouts, America’s top hard tea brand, Twisted Tea, just announced a brand new limited-edition Rocket Pop flavor. According to a May 02, 2023 press release, this drink features the flavors of the nostalgic rocket pop popsicle, including lemon-lime, cherry, and blue-raspberry. The Rocket Pop Twisted Tea Hard Tea is only available in the new Twisted Tea Party Pack, alongside flavors Twisted Tea Original, Half & Half, and Peach. The pack is available May through July “while supplies last.” Rocket Pop Hard Tea has an alcohol content of 5% ABV. It contains real brewed tea and no carbonation.
